Gorilla Glass | Rohitkaswan

All You Need To Know About Gorilla Glass
All of you would have heard about Gorilla Glass in iphone 4,Galaxy tab and in many other electronic devices. It is actually athin, light, scratch resistant sheet of glass made up of alkali-aluminosilicate. It is basically used as the cover glass for portableelectronic devices such as mobile phones, tablet screens and inlaptop display screens. Gorilla Glass is developed by the companynamed ‘
Corning
’ which developed this product way back in1960’s under the name chemcor. This product withstood 100,000pound of pressure per square inch and has been used as bullet proof windshields and in spacecrafts.
How it all started:
Existence of this great product was an idea; given to BillArmistead by Bill Decker way back in 1960’s that why does glassbreaks? So they started working on a project named ‘ProjectMuscle’ with an aim of developing an ultrastrong and unbreakableglass. And this superstrong glass was namedChemcor. In the previous 10 yearsor so there was a sudden need for the replacement for the easilyscratchable plastic lens amongst the cell phone manufacturing

companies. As cell phone manufactures challenged Corning to finda glass to meet their specific product needs, Corning scientistslooked on their invention and innovation shelves, their eyes fallingon Chemcor – the chemically strengthened glass that was stillawaiting its perfect market niche. Naming the project GorillaGlass, the company’s project team worked to make a glass of proper thickness to serve a protective cover for the cell phonescreens.By the beginning of 2006, the project was on a full go. Its aim wasnot just cell phones, Corning aimed to overtake the use of plasticwhich is easily scratchable and soda-lime glass which can break easily in some of the products like, notebooks, GPS devices, portable music players, smart phones, etc. The team tried to make ahighly durable, scratch resistant Liquid Crystal Display cover glassfor better optical clarity and longer life.
What’s With the Name?

Its name came to be as Gorilla Glass, since Gorilla resembles abanana-eating, chest-beating, tree-swinging mammal known for itsferocious strength and stocky build. While Gorilla glass mirrors itsnamesake’s strength, it doesn’t have to be bulky to get the jobdone. Gorilla glass can be produced in the svelte thinness of lessthan one millimeter, according to the product team. It providesadded protection for personal electronic devices and is especiallyvaluable for those devices featuring touch-screen technologies.

Brute force attack | Rohit kaswan

A password attack that does
not attempt to decrypt any
information, but continue to
try different passwords. For
example, a brute-force attack
may have a dictionary of all words or a listing of
commonly used passwords. To
gain access to an account using
a brute-force attack, a
program tries all available
words it has to gain access to the account. Another type of
brute-force attack is a
program that runs through all
letters or letters and numbers
until it gets a match. Although a brute-force attack
may be able to gain access to
an account eventually, these
attacks can take several hours,
days, months, and even years
to run. The amount of time it takes to complete these
attacks is dependent on how
complicated the password is
and how well the attacker
knows the target. To help prevent brute-force
attacks many systems will
only allow a user to make a
mistake in entering their
username or password three
or four times. If the user exceeds these attempts, the
system will either lock them
out of the system or prevent
any future attempts for a set
amount of time.

Information about hacking of wi-fi in 2012 | Rohit kaswan

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - A
previously unknown hacker
group has posted online the
details of 450,000 user accounts and passwords it claims to
have taken from a Yahoo
server. The Ars Technica technology
news website reported that
the group, which calls itself
D33DS Company, hacked into
an unidentified subdomain of
Yahoo's website where they retrieved unencrypted account
details. A Yahoo spokesperson in
Singapore declined to
comment. The affected accounts appeared
to belong to a voice-over-
Inte rnet-protocol, or VOIP, service called Yahoo Voices,
which runs on Yahoo's instant
messenger. The Voices service
is powered by Jajah, a VOIP
platform that was bought by
Telefonica Europe BV in 2010. The hackers' website where
the original claim was made,
d33ds.co, was not available
later on Thursday. It was
registered in February.
Industry website CNET reported the hackers as saying
the breach was intended as a
"wake-up call and not as a
threat" and that Yahoo's
security was lax. The Voices hack is one of
several in recent months. The
business networking service
LinkedIn admitted last month
that 6.4 million member
passwords had been stolen from its website.

Juniper UTM software | Rohit kaswan

"Juniper's updated ScreenOS release offers holistic content security solutions for branch office to large enterprise networks," said Charles Kolodgy, Secure Content and Threat Management Products director at IDC. "Organizations with multiple office locations have differing requirements and are looking to standardize and improve overall perimeter security to address L3-L7 threats. With the new ScreenOS, Juniper Networks is providing embedded security solutions that enforce security from the network- to application-level, at key points throughout the network, to effectively mitigate risk and handle the dynamic threats and security needs of the modern enterprise."

Through best-in-class partners like Kaspersky, SurfControl and Symantec, the new ScreenOS operating system's UTM security features help protect traffic flowing in and out of the branch office from worms, spyware, trojans, and malware. In addition to UTM security features, the new ScreenOS now enables virtually all Juniper FW/VPN platforms - including the Secure Services Gateway (SSG) Family and the Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) Family with Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) security modules - to function as network access control enforcers in a Unified Access Control (UAC) environment. ScreenOS 5.4 also introduces captive portal functionality to Juniper's UAC solution, allowing for automatic redirect of new or unauthenticated users to the Juniper Infranet Controller for user authentication and endpoint security posture verification prior to granting access and ongoing access to network resources. This enables seamless access control that is transparent to end users
