"Juniper's updated ScreenOS release offers holistic content security solutions for branch office to large enterprise networks," said Charles Kolodgy, Secure Content and Threat Management Products director at IDC. "Organizations with multiple office locations have differing requirements and are looking to standardize and improve overall perimeter security to address L3-L7 threats. With the new ScreenOS, Juniper Networks is providing embedded security solutions that enforce security from the network- to application-level, at key points throughout the network, to effectively mitigate risk and handle the dynamic threats and security needs of the modern enterprise."
Through best-in-class partners like Kaspersky, SurfControl and Symantec, the new ScreenOS operating system's UTM security features help protect traffic flowing in and out of the branch office from worms, spyware, trojans, and malware. In addition to UTM security features, the new ScreenOS now enables virtually all Juniper FW/VPN platforms - including the Secure Services Gateway (SSG) Family and the Integrated Security Gateway (ISG) Family with Intrusion Detection and Prevention (IDP) security modules - to function as network access control enforcers in a Unified Access Control (UAC) environment. ScreenOS 5.4 also introduces captive portal functionality to Juniper's UAC solution, allowing for automatic redirect of new or unauthenticated users to the Juniper Infranet Controller for user authentication and endpoint security posture verification prior to granting access and ongoing access to network resources. This enables seamless access control that is transparent to end users
